Meditation Time

I have been thinking about who the Amaria ideal client is and I decided to illustrate snippets of "The Amaria Life". Since it is January and everybody is trying to stick to their new year's resolutions, I really wanted to do an illustration of ladies doing yoga or meditating.  I came across a photograph by Jeremy Papasso of some people participating in a prayer for rain in Colorado and I absolutely loved it. Here is the original photograph.

And here is my illustration done with colored pencils, markers and acrylics inspired by his photograph.

I have styled the ladies in the following items:

If you love this illustration you can get it in my Soceity6 Shop.

I also would love to share some great websites with meditations. Check out Deepak Chopra's 21 day meditations and Meditation Oasis. If you have any recommendations on books, CDS, websites on guided meditations please feel free to share.

Las Amigas

I was looking through a flickr account from State Library of Queensland and found this picture they called Three French Hens. I loved the photograph so much I decided to do a painting inspired by this photograph.

I went ahead and chose some designs by various artisans and styled the girls in more modern outfits.

Here are the outfits from left to right the friends are wearing.

Pink Blush Sequins dress by Blush Fashion
The Black Panther dress by Marcella Moda
Bohemian Lace dress by Sandrachagen
Black Sash Belt by Elegance by Kate

Revisiting My Design, Sewing, and Painting Skills

I decided to revisit some old skills I have not used in a long time. I fell in love with the floral fabric from Philip Jacobs and the purple watercolor fabric from Erin Williams. They are both such talented artists and I loved the look if the two fabrics together on my second dress. I ended up adjusting a pattern and sewing a paisley box pleated dress and a long purple box pleated dress with an embroidered panel. My skills are a bit rusty but I am please with the results. As they say practice makes perfect! Here are some pics of my creative journey.

The painting I did of both dresses was my first attempt at painting with watercolors. I am quite pleased with how the fabrics came out. I will definitely be attempting another watercolor painting soon. I also received a book from a dear friend who features her designs on Blugrn Design and I cannot wait to read it. It is The Trickster's Hat : A Mischievous Apprenticeship in Creativity by Nick Bantock. If you have read it please give me your feedback.

Stay Creative my Friends!
Oh and check out Erin Williams amazing watercolor paintings at her shop.
