Girls Night Card Game

I was inspired by this 1954 photograph from the Flickr page of the State Library and Archives of Florida of some women playing bridge.

I decided to do an illustration with the girlfriends in some cute modern day outfits I found on the internet. I had some fun with the illustration by later on placing the girlfriends I'm a wine cellar/ game room.

Check out the outfits from left to right:

Black and white striped sweater by Matkashop
Silk hand painted dress by Tanjadesign
Woven striped tunic by Kovale
Ikat print dress by Minxshop

Tea for Two

Tea for Two by Ana Maria Sanchez

On rainy day, missing my girlfriends I made this illustration inspired by a photograph by Steven Meisel. I painted with acrylics and prismacolor pencils. This is the first of a series of three I plan to illustrate.
I also played stylist by searching the internet for some amazing pieces to include in the illustration. Check out them all out!

Finkshop love

This past holiday season I needed some wardrobe help and turned to the artisans on Etsy. I searched the perfect shoe clips to change up my stiletto heels. I eventually landed on Finkshop's page and found some fabulous black crystal & seed bead on chiffon shoe clips. As you see in my personal photographs the clips added the extra glamour I needed for the shoe.  Love them!

New stones & goodies

I attended the gem show last month and bought some amazing stones and pieces. I have not had a chance to work with my new goodies yet, except for one piece I was able to design. I found some rare mother of pearl hand carved medallions which I had been eyeing for a while but not ready to make the $$ commitment. I finally sucked it up and purchased them. Here is what I created with those medallions, blue topaz & moonstones my Basilie earrings. What do you think? I am in love with them.......

Creative friend

I love surrounding myself with creative people! I feel that we all feed off of each other's energy and inspire each other to create some amazing things and ideas. I was invited to join a friend Rosa at her house for cafecito (coffee) and enjoyed her homemade bread and blueberry tart. Rosa is an incredibly talented person. She bakes amazing goodies and also specializes in cakes. She also showed me some of her amazing little girls dresses that she has handmade with smocked detailing and embroidery. I am on a mission to introduce her to Etsy and see if she too can set up shop.

DuBuhDuDesigns art prints

I am so excited that Christine Alvarado has decided to sell prints of her art dolls. She is an incredibly talented artist and photographer. I have tried many times to purchase a doll of hers and as soon as she announces on her blog that new dolls will be posted in her shop they are GONE! This might be the closest I can get to owning an art doll by DuBuhDuDesigns. Check out her prints....

Handmade purchase from RN & TN Studio

My most recent purchase from a husband and wife artisan team RN & TN Studio based out of the small city of Lamphun in Thailand. I absolutely love their handbags, Ipod holders, & wallets. I love that they design from nature- using symbols for the sun, flowers, and the look of wood in their products. I asked them to make a custom business card holder for me. When I received my card holder, I loved the look of the packaging and my little leather key floral accessory given as a gift. From one artisan to another, I thank them for the presentation and quality of their work. Check out their website!
